The Course

Tom Fazio's Family Course on Lake Keowee

Keowee Springs opened in September 2008 as Tom Fazio's second course at The Cliffs, after Keowee Vineyards. It drew praise from the golf press almost as soon as the greens were first rolled.

The routing is the story. Three six-hole loops and a family set of tees make it easy to fit golf around a lake day, bring the kids along, or play a fast six before dinner. It is also home course to the Sassy Sixers, the club's ladies' golf group.

Design & Layout

Three Loops of Six Holes

Three Six-Hole Loops

The 18 holes are routed as three loops of six, so a quick six or a twelve fits around a day on the lake.

Family Tees

A dedicated set of family tees plays from about 4,600 yards, with the back tees stretching to about 7,100 for low handicappers.

Forgiving by Design

Fazio set out to build a friendlier course: more groomed turf, less rough and bunkers placed as much for the eye as for the penalty. He has said he designed it as a course his own large family could enjoy.

Turf & Terrain

Bermuda grass fairways and rough, TifEagle tees and 007 bentgrass greens, laid across a gently rolling mountainside with long views over Lake Keowee.
